THE FEDERATION OF AMERICAN STATES

This is a modern constitution I created by refering to both Confederate States of America Constitutions, Amendments of the US Constitution, 1836 and 1845 Republic of Texas Constitutions, Texas 2000 Constitution, 1861 State of Georgia Constitution, 1947 Japanese Constitution, and minutes of the Confederate Constitutional Convention. I have also included various proposed/rejected United States Constitution amendments and parts of other constitutions that I have gathered through the years. All suggestions, comments, and constructive criticism are welcome.

One thing that has bothered me since starting this project years ago that the Confederate States was not a confederation. The first Confederate States Constitution was based loosely on the Articles of Confederation but the second Constitution was an improved version of the original United States Constitution. To prove this a line in the preamble of the Constitution for the Confederate States state that the purpose of this Constitution is to "form a permanent federal government" and a later line refers to "federal currency". So the founding fathers of the Confederacy did decide on a Federal system of government almost the same as the US had.

I also believe that there are two important points that I feel need to be addressed:
--- Too many people who were indoctrinated in the government/public schools thinks that the Confederacy only fought for was the preservation of slavery and so was an evil empire that deserved to be crushed and justification for what was not destroyed by the war was looted during reconstruction.
--- I also envision that the people of Canada, Mexico, and other countries in the Americas are just as fed up with their central governments and would like to join with the free thinking and independent States into a new and free republic.

The most important change I made was the election of the President. Right now the electoral college elects the President and Vice-president and if there is no clear winner the House of Representatives would choose the President and the Senate choose the Vice-President. I added a third, top tier; the President will be elected by the popular vote but to account for fraud and errors if the top two candidates vote counts are separated by five percent of their total votes then the current method would be used to pick a president.

Therefore I created a working name for this new country called the Federation of American States. It is more inclusive and helps greatly to reduce the sigma of the false Yankee version of the War Between the States among the ignorant and welcomes all the people of the Americas to join. But of course the founding fathers and mothers could name it anything they want.
