Before the internationally known entertainer that he is today, Ricky Martin first started performing at a very young age. He was only a mere six-year-old when he appeared in television commercials in Puerto Rico. At age 12 he began his musical career by joining the pop group Menudo in 1984. He spent five years in the group, travelling around the world and building up courage and confidence each time he went on stage. |
In 1993 Ricky moved to Los Angeles to seek further opportunities. He was cast as
Miguel Morez in the most highly rated and longest running television series "General
Hospital". When Ricky released his third album "A Medio Vivir" in 1995 he solidified his position in the market and in the heart of every South American public. |
The popularity he earned in General Hospital gave him the opportunity to
play the romantic lead, Marius, in the Broadway production of "Les Miserables".
The critics favoured him for his magnetic stage presence and his potential as a
world-renowned artist. After his triumphant success on stage Ricky Martin returned to singing. He released the album "Vuelve" in 1998. The album featured the theme of the 1998 World Cup, "La Copa De La Vida" (The Cup of Life), which Ricky sang at the final ceremony. At the release of this single he earned world-wide popularity, travelling across continents to perform and star in many international shows. In the early year of 1999, The American Music Awards invited Ricky to sing "The Cup Of Life". This performance was the first ever in the history of The Grammy's to televise internationally a Latin performance. He won the heart of the people world-wide, not just the Latin audience. He also won his first Grammy for Best Latin Performance. Ricky released his first English album in May this year. At the very moment, he is "Livin' La Vida Loca", travelling around the world as an internationally known entertainer. |

Marriage:
Ricky does not hesitate to form a family someday. He almost got
married once, having gone to buy the ring.
Madonna
After Ricky's performance at The Grammy's 1999, Madonna met Ricky
backstage where she asked Ricky to record a duet with her. The song is entitled
"Cuidado Con Mi Corazon (Be Careful)" and is featured in the current album.
