KATHRYN
GRAYSON!!!
Kathryn Grayson was born Zelma Hedrick on February 9, 1922 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her father was in the real estate business which brought about frequent moves for the family. When she was three, they headed for St Louis, Missouri, where she was educated in both public and private schools. The next move was to Texas and the trip there was an eventful one; their car collided with a fruit truck and Kathryn and her mother spent five months in a hospital. When that ordeal was over, the family went on to Califonia, where Kathryn continued her singing. While auditioning for the Eddie Cantor radio show, Louis B. Mayer saw and hears the petite lass with the big voice and immediately signed her to a contract. During her twelve years with MGM, the charms of Kathryn were responsible for some of the studio's biggest hits. She was happy until 1953 when she wanted to do concert and television work and since MGM would not agree to this, her contract was terminated by a mutual agreement. She then signed
with Warners and made some more films. In 1940 she had married John Shelton but the marriage didn't work out and she eventually married again, this time to Johnny Johnston and had a doughter, Patricia Kathryn. Soon after Kathryn and Johnny split up and divorced in 1952. Here are five of Kathryn Grayson's most famous films: Thousands Cheer (1943), Anchors Aweigh (1945), The Kissing Bandit (1948), Show Boat (1951), and Kiss Me Kate (1953).
