On January 11, 1999, about 15:45 local, an Air Scandinavia DC-9-41 flight AS614, register number NSEDAC, was on an initial climb from Stockholm ARN, Sweden. Upon reaching 6,000 feet 3 miles out, the cabin attendents noticed heavy smoke coming from the aft cabin. The crew made an immediate emergency landing back at Stockholm, runway 26. A flight plan had been filed for the flight conducted under 14 CFR Part 91 which originated in Stockholm enroute to Geneva. Upon the landing back at Stockholm, the aircraft was evacuated. Two passengers sustained minor injuries during the evacuation and were immediatly taken to a nearby hospital. The rest of the 77 passengers and crew were uninjured.

Probable Cause

-Short circuit in gallery food warmer

-Inadequate evacuation training, flight crew
