Halloween Spook Spectacular

Last year at this time, the Halloween Spook Spectacular became the first KOWS contest ever. Since it was such a tremendous success, I've decided to repeat the contest this year!

Writing entered in this contest should relate in some way to Halloween/scary stories (for instance, ghost stories, mysteries, horror stories, weird stories, etc.)

Enteries will be accepted in four categories: Junior (3-10 years old) Poetry, Senior Poetry (11 and up), Junior Prose, and Senior Prose. Prose includes stories, essays, plays, etc.

Another first for KOWS-- we will for the first time ever be offering PRIZES for the winners in all categories! The first place winners will have a choice of several prizes.

Rules: (Please read before entering: enties that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted)

1.) Deadline is Friday, October 30, 1998. Entries sent in after that will be published, but not eligible for prizes.

2.) Poetry should not exceed 100 lines. Prose should not exceed 1500 words. If your work exceeds this limit, talk to me about it.

3.) Open only to children/teens from ages 3-19 (age as of 10/30/98).

4.) All entries must be original (your own work).

5.) All entries must relate (directly or indirectly) to the theme/topic of the contest. If you have questions about what qualifies, please feel free to ask about it.

6.) Work may only be entered in one age category.

7.) Work must be headed by the official entry form (see below) IN THE SAME E-MAIL. Only one entry per e-mail.

8.) Please, please, please spell and/or grammar check (or get an adult to) your work before sending it. If I think you haven't done this (ex. I can't understand it because of spelling or grammar mistakes) I may send it back. Also, DO NOT type in all caps, change font, color, or size of the text. If you do this, I will return the entry and ask you to change it.

9.) Odds of winning depend on number of entries. KOWS reserves the right not to award prizes if there are not enough entries, or if no entry possesses sufficient literary merit.

10.) Only one prize per person per category.

Questions? Concerns? Entries? E-mail Cheshrcat7@aol.com REMEMBER, I will not accept entries for the contest if they are not accompanied by the official entry form.
