Cestus III has been destroyed. The Enterprise persues the attackers through their territory into Metron space. The Metrons put a stop to the persuit and force Kirk and the Gorn captain to fight against each other and for survival on a rocky rough planet. Kirk defeats the Gorn, but refuses to kill him in cold blood. The Metrons are pleased with this, and return Kirk to his ship.

Tomorrow is Yesterday
The Enterprise gets thrown back in time by the gravitationa field of a black star. They end up being a UFO, and beam aboard the pilot of a fighter plane that they accidently destroy with a tractor beam. They try to erase all evidence that they had ever been there in a comedy of errors. Finally, since they must slingshot around the sun to return to their own time, they send the fighter pilot back at a time before his ship was destroyed.

Court-Martial
Kirk is court martialled for neglence, and causing the death of Lt. Commander Finney. Defended by Samuel T. Cogley, against Kirk's former girlfriend Areel Shaw, Kirk is found to be not guilty when it turns out that Commander Finney is not dead.

The Return of the Archons
The Enterprise and her crew are in danger of meeting the same fate as the U.S.S. Archon and her crew, namely being destroyed by an artifical intellegence, a computer named Landru who has taken over the control of the population of Beta III.
