This photo was taken from in front of "Hotel Victoria" where I stayed for ten days in Aghios Nikolaus. Amoudi Bay. I swam at this beach a few times and the water was very warm, even at the end of October.
I took a bus tour to south east Crete and Toplou Monastery was one of the places we stopped. It had been fortified with cannons and I believe that Toplou is greek for "cannon".
