The Sunsoft Filter
One of my favorite filters is the "Sunsoft" filter made by Cokin. I was given this filter in a promotion and thought I'd never use it. Was I ever wrong! It can really enhance a landscape scene when used appropriately. It is also very useful in outdoor portraiture although I haven't yet used it in that. It warms the colour of the image as well as softening it, adding a romantic feel to the picture. When used on images with warm colours (e.g. fall foliage), the reds and oranges almost pop off the page. I've used it in combination with other filters as well such as FLD's and diffusion to add even more softness to the image. When I'm feeling creative I love to experiment with different filters and then can hardly wait to get my photographs back from the lab.
