With the help of three straight pins from Joey Isley, Bobby Canales and Zach Lefevre the Bears beat the Eagles for the third consecutive year. Connell led most of the way and after 11 matches held a 27-23 advantage. However, just like last year, Ki-Be's heavyweigths came through with pins to end the match and give Ki-Be the victory.

103 - Sergio Avila must have dieted all year to make 103. Sergio dominated the match but had problems turning a scrappy Velasquez. The score was 2-1 going into the third before Sergio recorded a couple of 2 point nearfalls. If Sergio can keep the weight off he will be a strong contender for #1 in the CWAC.

112 - Ramon Ortiz spared no mercy on Barry Leavitt. Ortiz had Leavitt in a cradle for most of the 74 seconds.

119 - Mike Nielson wrestled up in place of Julien Mendez who did not have enough practices to wrestle tonight. Nielson wasted little time in pinning David Vongalath in 78 seconds.

125 - Winning streak reaches 72 and counting for Ale. Ale opted for the tech fall once again as he dismantled Brad Prather piece by piece. Ale got things going with a bear hug on Prather, taking him to his back for a 5-0 lead. Three more takedowns and 8 nearfall points and it was all over. Connell was docked one team point after this match, don't know why.

130 - Josh Corke and Chris Lee had a good battle. Both freshman and both good. The match was alot closer than the 8-2 final score. Corke got the first takedown but Lee came back in the second round with an escape and nearly got the lead with a near takedown before Corke took control of the match with a spin around takedown and a 4-2 lead.

135 - Guadalupe Montez looked good as he defeated Ramon DelAngel 8-4. Ramon put a good fight of his own but in the end Montez' muscle won out.

140 - Juventino Orozco looks like another good freshman wrestler for Connell, but Paul Schlotman gave him a good fight for 5+ minutes.

145 - Jesse DeLaPena took control of this match early and was in total command as he recorded 3 TD's in the first round. Jesse finished off the match with a monster crotch lift after an attempted single leg by Gray. Gray went head over heels, straight to his back for the pin.

152 - Orozco looks like he is ready to take on all comers this year as he dominated Mark McCullough. Orozco is quick and strong and appears to be in pretty good condition. With a little highschool experience, McCullough could also be very good.

160 - Freeman and Corriel put on a good show for two rounds. Freeman got the first takedown and, except for falling into a head and arm, did a good job of riding and controlling Corriel for two rounds. Corriel exploded in the third round with his second head and arm for the pin at 4:47.

171 - Chad Tuck proved to be a little bit better than Angel Mejia again. At last years Region tournament, Tuck and Mejia wrestled to a 0-0 tie after two rounds, before Tuck pulled out a 3-0 win. This match was much the same. Mejia and Tuck jockeyed for position as the match started with both wrestlers making some good shots. Tuck got the first takedown and and also scored a reverse to start the second round. The inability of Mejia to escape Tuck was the deciding factor in the match.

189 - Joey had an early scare against Goodrich. Joey attempted a throw but was caught short by Goodrich. Because of the failed throw, Isley's arm was stuck around Goodrich's head as Joey was taken down to his back but fortunately they were out of bounds and only 2 takedown points were arwarded. That must have lit a fire under Joey because he immediately escaped, got the takedown and cradled Goodrich for the pin at 1:07.

215 - Bobby Canales spent the first round waiting for the right time to throw Dearborn to his back. He built a 4-1 lead by countering shots by Dearborn in the first before landing the big one in the second for the pin.

275 - Zach Lefevre, showing why he was named second team all CWAC in football , used his rushing the quarterback technique to bury Saul Portillo for the pin at 1:14. Zach is quick for a heavyweight, for that matter any weight, and should do well this year. Possible state material.
