Miriam Stoppard writes:

Her thesis is irresistible because it is grounded in such basic neonatal physiology, and her logic is irrefutable: if an autistic child is born with the instincts and equipment to relate to others, then intervention must begin early (at least by nine months) to keep the apparatus in working order.
