Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change The Courage to changes the things I can And the Wisdom to know the difference I have been a grateful member of several 12 step groups: ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics and other dysfunctional families) SARA (Sexual Abuse Recovery Anonymous) Alanon (for friends and families of alcoholics) NA (Narcotics Anonymous) I think that the 12steps can be a very helpful tool in overcoming addictions and working through personal problems, as long as we do not lose sight of the fact that they are tools only. I am not a Christian, I do not believe in "god" in the christian sense, and I also do not believe that 12step groups are "forever".
