2000 Malibu Road

Cast:

Short-lived summer serial drama about four women living together in a luxurious home at the beach in the Malibu section of Los Angelas. Jade (Lisa Hartman), who owned the house, was a retired call girl who needed the money from her three roommates to afford upkeep on it. Living with her were Lindsay (Drew Barrymore), an aspiring actress; Lindsay's ruthless overweight older sister, Joy (Tuesday Knight), who was managing her sibling's career with Svengali-like control; and Perry (Jennifer Beals), an attractive attorney trying to put her life back together after the death of her fiance. In the premier episode Jade was linked to the murder of a woman who floated up on the beach near her house, a case that was not solved during the four weeks 2000 Malibu Road was on the air. Also seen were Eric, a young neighbor of Jade's who was in love with Lindsay and wanted to use her in a movie he was planning; Scott, a DBS television network executive and one of Jade's former clients; Roger, a high school boyfriend of Perry's who had just come back into her life; Sgt. Munoz, the police officer who had arrested Jade; Hal, her attorney; Camilla, Jade's mother who wanted her to get married and have children; and Porter, Jade's sleazy stepfather, who was running for governor.
