Alexis turned from the window. "I knew something was wrong, what, exactly, I had no idea." At Amanda's prompting she continued, "Sometimes I see things, or hear things in my head. Pieces of things like scenes for a play. Sometimes it is just something a about a person, something....off, I guess. I know how crazy that sounds but...."

"Sounds perfectly normal to me," Amanda cut in. "Go on. When did you start getting wierd impressions of my mom?"

Alexis sighed. Explaining what she knew was never easy, because she was never sure exactly WHAT she knew to begin with. "I really don't know, but when I first met her, there was something about her that caught my attention, but I couldn't define it until we started to work together. Then, it became....well, like the sensation of......blank spots, I guess."

"Blank spots?" for the first time in this conversation, Mandy was genuinely confused. What exactly did all of this mean, and what did it have to do with the fate of her missing sister? "How do you mean?"

"Aghh! I'm sorry, it's just, I really am not sure how to say this in a way that you will understand the feeling. At least, not without you being inside of my head, that is."

"Well, we could always try that. I mean, if it works, you could "show" me exactly what you have been getting, and how it relates to my mother and sister."

"H - how would we do that?" Alexis asked nervously. She had never tried to allow anyone to get into her mind. Ironically, it was generally the other way around. After the hell her abilities had led to in the past, the idea was frightening to say the least. On the other hand, the idea of finally being able to use her cursed gift to help others, especially someone who had been as good to her as Deanna, then it would be more then worth it.

Amanda shrugged. "Well, I'm not as good as my mom, but based on what you've told me, and what I have been learning, if you just.....run through the images, and concentrate on me, then I should be able to use what I have learned from my mother to establish a link of some kind to see whatever it is you are seeing. If it works, well, maybe I can make out some of the items, that you don't understand."

"Can we do this? I mean, do you really think that it is possible?"

"Well, I honestly don't know. I haven't done anything like this before. But, my mother did it once, when my grandmother was in some kind of telepathic coma. When she did it, it revealed some kind of dark family secret that my grandmother had been hiding, but it saved her life."

Alexis paled farther. "Deanna, she's not in that kind of trouble is she?"

Mandy shook her head vigorously. "No, not yet, but she isn't herself, even now. Something horrific happened to her and she can't remember. It’s eating her up inside. She thinks I don't know, but I saw her tonight, and it scares me."

Slowly, Alexis nodded. "Yes, even from here, I can tell things are getting worse for her, yet in a way, she seems to be fighting it off, without even realizing it is there. So strange...."

"That would be my Dad," Mandy smiled. "I'm not quite sure how they do it, but they always seem to be able to keep each other together, just when you think they can't take it anymore, they find a way. My mother always says it's because they are Imzadi.

         Suddenly, Alexis's eyes lost focus.....

what does that mean Mommy.....very special.....can I have one too....must be very lucky.....forever....

"Hey, um, are you ok?" Mandy watched her host with concerned, and slightly frightened eyes. "Look, maybe this was all a bad idea, I can just go --"

Alexis suddenly snapped back into focus. "No, no. It wasn't a mistake. I think we should try it."

         "Are you sure?"

She nodded slowly. "I have a feeling that we will all be better of once this mystery is solved. If this can make that happen, then we have to do it."

Mandy grinned, determination shining in her eyes. "Let's go for it."
