Werner Icking Music Archive (formerly: GMD Music Archive)
Contains a huge selection of works by various composers. Contains mostly string and choral works, but there is one Concert Band piece which requires a Bag Pipe. There is also something for the clarinet and flute player, so long as you have friends that play string instruments also. You should really read the instructions, link located at top left hand of page, for instructions on how to download music from this page.

    Musica Viva

Scores are indexed by instrument, ranging from woodwinds, brass, strings, small ensembles, piano, etc… All music available to download in GIF image format. There is something to the tune of 22,000 pieces available to download from here is both GIF and TIFF format. There is everything from piano, orchestra, and brass band music. Unless you really know your composers and titles, I suggest doing a keyword search on the type of instrumentation you're looking for.

    music-scores.com
Music of most of the great classical composers can be found here (ie. Bach, Borodin, Brahms, Debussy, Mozart, Pachabel, Satie, etc….). Music is indexed by composer, genre, and instrumentation. Scores range from solo instrumentation to small groups. Scores are available for download in either Sibelius's Scorch format, or in Adobe's Acrobat Reader format. Well worth a visit.

There is no wind music to be found here, only piano music, but I've included it because a number of people in this world probably had their first music lessons on piano. Titles are sorted by both category and alphabetically. Majority of pieces are Classical, but there is also an offering of Ragtime and Christmas tunes. Music available to download in PDF format.
