Wandering in the forest of the Homestead one day,you spied a flash of color high up in the branches of an old oak tree.Upon closer inspection you saw a nest made of soft down,twigs and various other objects snuggled firmly in a crook of two of the largest branches.Suddenly,a small head appeared with short snout.Just as suddenly,the creature took flight.You could just barely make out wings and a long long tail.
A small insect had flown into the creature's territory and it was giving chase.They swooped this way and that as the insect tried with vain to evade capture.The creature was gaining,it stretched out a long neck and finally captured the small insect.
The creature settled in the crook of a small branch to eat the hard won prize as you looked on.As you gazed in wonder at the creature a voice said,"That is a Featherdrake."
You whirled around and saw Twinkle,Lady Darkmoon's faithful watcher."you startled me Twinkle!" you said.
She smiled and said"Sorry.I just thought you might like to know the name of the creature you were looking at.They are not native to this land but rather are an adoptive of Lady Darkmoon's.However the creature seems quite happy living here in the forest."With that she gave a little smile and blinked out again.
You gazed one last time at the small creature and headed on your way.
Well the egg has arrived and we are keeping it warm and dry.Twinkle will be guarding it for Lady Darkmoon,so we know that no harm will come to it.
Our Little egg has hatched and the perfect little hatchling is now resting comfortably in her nest.Please meet Rowan our featherdrake.She is a bark female capable of changing colors at will,including Lady Darkmoon's color along with her.This comes in handy if she is hunting,feels the need to mask herself against others or if she is just playing hide and seek here with others that live in the homestead.
Rowan also is a great herbalist and is able to identify the herbs growing here and give it's properties and use.Lady Darkmoon can often be found consulting her for her knowledge in that department.
Without further ado,meet Rowan.Named for the tree rowan who's folk name is Delight of the Eye and carries the properties of healing and protection.
Our beautiful Rowan has grown to adulthood and can be seen flying through the treetops hunting or just for the sheer joy of flying.

We were so pleased with Rowan and delighted with the pure joy of watching her,that Lady Darkmoon made a trip back to the Featherdrake Aeyrie and applied to adopt another of her kind.We are not sure what kind of featherdrake it will be or if we will get an egg but we are sure we will be every bit as pleased as we have been with Rowan.
Rowan has done a wonderful job guarding the egg and just today the little one has hatched.Meet Coventina,our ocean featherdrake.She has the power to find and purify water thus ensuring there is always a fresh water supply here at the homestead.
Our beautiful Coventina has matured to adulthood and has proved to be a wonderful asset to the homestead.Although,she and Rowan our the best of friends,she spends a great deal of her time at our seaside enjoying the tropical climate and the ocean breezes.

Our lovely Rowan and her mate have clutched and we are about to receive an egg from that clutch.All of us here at the Homestead are awaiting the arrival.
Well the egg has arrived and Rowan and Coventina can hardly take their eyes off it.They have worked out a great shift though,one hunts while the other watches the egg and vice versa.
Well Rowan's egg has hatched and we have a beautiful male featherdrake.His name is Lugh (pronounced Loo) and he is named for a great sun God.He was born with the ability to read auras,detect good and evil and picking up on people's moods.
Although Rowan is the proud Mom,you would think it was Coventina.She is as protective and proud as Rowan.Anyway,you may view the new hatchling below.

Well our little hatchling has grown to adulthood and is presently flying the grounds.He is a great asset to the Homestead.So without further ado....look up and you will catch our newest member doing flips and dives in the air as if he has not a care in the world.You know what,he doesn't....he is safe and happy here!!
