DIGGING UP OLD BONES

Okay, first of all, I'm new at this, and I'm one of those poor computer-illiterates who fears that if I press the wrong button, the entire machine will blow up. So, this page is a scary thing for me. I haven't yet learned the fine art of translating to HTML, so this page will likely drive you nutz until I can get my links going!

Addictions! Can we talk?

I am Lainie Hendrix, and this is the place where I must confess to my addictions. I am a Genealogy Addict. Yes, it's true. I don't eat, I don't sleep, and I don't read today's paper. My husband never sees my face, although he ALWAYS knows where I am and what I'm doing.

My addiction confines me to:

*staring at fuzzy microfilm records;

*deciphering illegible old-time script;

*digging through old photographs;

*bugging the daylights out of my relatives for anything...ANYTHING AT ALL...that they can remember about Great-Grandma So-And-So;

*hunting through libraries, searching for books no one remembers reading as bedtime stories;

*spending countless hours on the Internet reading the scores of wonderful materials put together by other genealogy addicts;

*reading obituaries about people I've never met in my life, and getting EXCITED about the information contained therein. Oh, that is so sick!

*filing old records into manila folders, and then stacking all those folders in piles on the guest bed, the floor, in the closet, etc., just so I can get to them fast. This is called "organization?"

*dreaming nightly about that one great BINGO!

MY QUESTION: is there such thing as Genealogists Anonymous?

My   SURNAMES

This is a brief outline of my known surnames. This is a temporary piece of information, and as with all information contained herein, I strongly recommend taking all of this with a grain of salt. Please email me if you have corrections, additions, links, comments, deletions, etc.
