Takuu Language

Takuu language is polynesian. It most closely resembles the languages found on Nukumanu (Tasman Islands), Nukuria (Fead Islands), Ontong Java (Lord Howe Islands), and Sikaiana (Stewart Islands). These are all attolls along the norteastern periphery of the Solomon Islands archipelago.

Recent studies by Elbert(1967), Pawley(1967), and Baynard (1976) "substantiate the view that the outliers were retrograte settelements from within Triangle Polynesia". (B. Moir)
