what to do with applesauce
Someone had some applesauce the family didn't like, this would be a good use for it.
OIL SUBSTITUTES IN BAKING
This is an old standby I know. I really had forgotten about it until I found a reminder in a neighborhood newspaper.
Substitute equal amounts of unsweetened applesauce for oil in recipes including boxed cakes, scones, quick breads, biscuits and brownies thus creating a no-fat alternative and increasing the moisture in the finished product.
Other substitutes that can be used in the same way are pureed fruit, fruit juice or concentrate, mashed pumpkin or squash, buttermilk, prune or apple butter and non-fat yogurt.

I have another idea, too
I am going to turn some extra applesauce into apple butter. I plan on leaving it chunky, so I guess it is really going to be apple jam, but who cares. Made some this weekend, put in brown sugar, ginger & nutmeg & slow cooked it for 3 hours. Yum, yum, yum & yum.
You can also make apple leathers with applesauce, so just add a little more flavor, or spices.
