Time was theirs now, dripping slowly like honey, slinking past at a crawl, waiting for them to fill the offered minutes with something, anything.  But days were still days, and days were long, and beyond waking up and driving, he had nothing.  A life once filled, once busy, now worth nothing more than a five-dollar tour of an old plantation in the middle of Kansas.
