Produced national protest in support of arts funding at Republican Convention. Produced protest in support of freedom of expression at RNC. Edited Monthly newsletter in support of public arts funding.


Director of Symphonic Services Division, American Federation of Musician
1983 - 1994

Defined operating philosophy and policy for division servicing members in symphony, opera, and ballet orchestras. Personally conducted contract negotiations for up to ten orchestra contracts per year, in many cases winning substantial gains through creative solutions. .Supervisor of many others conducted by staff members providing support in proposal preparation, negotiating strategy, legal issues, and pension structure. Devised and delivered an outreach program training many members in the US and Canada, using a three day seminar, teaching the philosophies and craft of organizing and negotiation. Organized and executed community actions and lobbying, including the use of TV, radio, and print media. Other responsibilities included budgeting, staffing interviews and employment, and general administration of the division.
