Ok, you no longer need security clearance to see what I like.
Well, just as any other... uhm... consultant, I like to kill other people. I have to, since
it's my job. I also like automatic weapons, the greater the firing rate, the better. Oops,
you're not supposed to read that. When I said I liked killing people, I meant playing DooM,
Duke Nukem 3D, and Quake. I like the shotguns, except in Quake, where it really sucks. Yeah.
Ok, on to the other, more tangible me. I like playing games, jokes, hanging out with
friends, a good laugh, reading a good book, and of course, the beach. Well, I like doing
stuff, and as I'm not in school right now, every chance I can get is that much better.
I like playing games. Whether it's board games, video games, or sports, I probably like
playing it. Contrary to many people's belief that I am addicted to DooM, I enjoy games with
some thought process more (although killing other people is pretty fun). Civilization and
the like, where some strategy is involved, some balance between military power and internal
development is required, are pretty fun.
On to sports. I like soccer and fencing. That's fencing with a foil, not kendo. Not that
kendo isn't fun, but I don't know anything about it. Anyways, soccer is a great team sport.
It's fast moving, the game doesn't stop if the ball goes out of bounds. There's physical
contact, more like hockey with its bumping and jostling for control than basketball, where
physical contact is probably a foul on someone. And a good team (and good players) have a
balance between offense and defense. Unfortunately, here in America, it's not a big sport
like baseball, football, or basketball. So, the media doesn't play many games on television,
even with the world cup going on. I have to go to the World Cup 98 website to get all the
scores and info on those games. This is a shame, because the game is a great amount of fun.
But soccer is the second fastest sport in America, right after snowboarding. Oh, I like
snowboarding too. But soccer is fun, and it's not a sport that requires a lot of equipment
like hockey, or a special field like basketball, all you need is a ball, and maybe a couple
of markers for a goal. And for those of you who think soccer isn't big in this country,
there are 16 million players in this country (source: World Cup 98 webpage). Compare this
with 2 million for Germany, which has a large pool of players compared with many countries.
So everybody go play soccer!
