New York's lighthouses are mostly in the Long Island area, built to aid navigation from all over the world into the busy city of New York.

Fire Island Light, Long Island, NY

Fire Island Light was nearly as important a daymark as a nighttime navigaional aid, because it was the first light visible to mark the entrance to New York.


Montauk Point Light, Long Island, NY

Montauk Point, or "Land's End," is the easternmost point of Long Island. A visit to this lighthouse includes a museum tour and a climb up the tower. On a clear day, Block Island, Rhode Island can be seen on the horizon.
