Little About Me
This is Michael from South Carolina. After being raised in the northern
panhandle of West Virginia (Wellsburg), I departed on the trip of a military
career in the United States Air Force as a military policeman. Traveling
around the world created experiences that should be written in a book.
Twenty years in the military was enough to handle and retirement came at
the age of 37 in 1988. People still have bills to pay and eat, so a second
career is in the making. For nine years I am employed with the South Carolina
Department of Corrections. I am a Shift Captain, just promoted, at Lee Correctional
Institution in Bishopville, SC.
I have a BA in Criminology from Saint Leo College, Florida. Attended all of
the various management courses in the service along with the US Army Corrections
course, USAF Traffic Investigtions course, and the state basic and supervisory
correctional courses.
In 1972 I was in Hawaii, met and married Ruth Ellynn Grice. We lived in Hawaii
for three years, and traveled together to Arkansas, Arizona, England and finally
here in South Carolina where we made Mt Vernon Drive home.
Ruth Ellynn is a registered nurse and has worked in surgery, home care, general
clinic nursing, and presently in Correctional Health Services at the Wateree
River Correctional Institution. She attended Graceland College, Iowa and
received her education in nursing. She comes from Rolla, Missouri.
We adopted Paul in 1977 while in Arkansas. He is now 20 and attending the
University of South Carolina, in Columbia, SC. He graduated from Thomas Sumter
Academy in Dalzell, SC.
Animals we have!! There are two cats George and Henry. There are two Springer
Spaniel Dogs names Bonnie and Clyde.
We enjoy movies, gardening, cooking, travel, and going to the beaches.
The small room with the computer is my escape from the normality of things, and
spend alot of time in there on my days off.
