Top Grossing Tours of 1999

The Rolling Stones dominated the concert business of 1999, according to Amusement Business, taking home more than $89.2 million — which will certainly help out Mick Jagger, who had to fork over a reported $15 million in his annulment settlement with Jerry Hall earlier in the year.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band reunion tour was second on the list, taking in at least $53 million — though not all the data had been processed at press time. According to Billboard online, when all the beans have been counted, Springsteen may have brought in as much as $105 million for both his domestic and international performances.

The perennially touring Dave Matthews Band came in third, taking in $44.5 million, followed by the list's first boy band, 'N Sync, which took home more than $44.3 million. Country stars Shania Twain and George Strait were No. 5 and 6 on the list, respectively, which was rounded out by Cher, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, and, of course, the Backstreet Boys, who, it should be noted, sold an enormous number of tickets, but sold them at $28.50 or $38.50 each, making their shows more affordable for their fans.
