Grammy Awards Show To Feature Santana, Backstreet Boys, TLC, Ricky Martin


This year's Grammy Awards show on Feb. 23 will include performances by Santana, Backstreet Boys, TLC, Ricky Martin and Grammy Legend recipient Elton John, The Recording Academy announced. For the second consecutive year, Rosie O'Donnell will host the ceremonies.

The three-hour CBS telecast will air live in the east starting at 8 p.m., and will be tape-delayed for the West Coast. Winners in 98 categories will be announced during the presentation.

Santana leads the field for the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards with 10 nominations. R&B trio TLC, who picked up two Grammys in 1995, gathered six nominations this year. Martin is nominated in three categories. Elton John will be presented with a Grammy Legend Award.

In other Grammy-related news, The Recording Academy and RCA Records have announced plans to release two new CDs featuring Grammy-nominated artists and songs. The first, ''The 2000 Grammy Pop Nominees'' disc, features tracks by Santana, TLC, Ricky Martin, Sting, Christina Aguilera, Macy Gray, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and others, and will be released on Feb. 8.

Artists on ''The 2000 Grammy Rap Nominees'' CD, include Busta Rhymes, Eminem, Nas and The Roots. The rap compilation is scheduled to hit stores on Feb. 15. A portion of the proceeds from the album will go to support musical education programs.
