Several years ago, I became interested in my family tree. My first attempts at genealogy were pitiful, to say the least. But things started looking up when I found a WONDERFUL source of information in GARY WILLIAMS, Clerk of Circuit Court,Sussex County, Virginia. Through Gary, I was able to accomplish in a matter of months, what I had not been able to achieve in a year of investigation on my own.My first big breakthrough came when I received a call from EMORY GIVENS telling me that our great grandmothers,Amy and Susie Massenburg, were sisters. He had been given my name by Gary Williams. Until then,I had very little information on the Massenburg family. Through Emory, I met STUART DOYLE, another new cousin.
The next big leap forward came with the purchase of WEBTV and my introduction to the internet. My first night online I found another cousin, CHRISTINE CHARITY and a great,great friend and relative, ELWOOD STITH.
We are constructing this website for all who are doing research in the counties of Greensville, Southampton and Sussex. You see, the common thread among Emory, Stuart, Elwood, and me is these 3 counties. Now, of course, our research has taken us to other areas; but it seems that we always end up back .......in the SOUTHSIDE OF VIRGINIA!
