Ally's Diary

April 14, 2000

Dear Diary,
Mommy FINALLY decided it was time to let me update my diary...gee, Mommy, it's only been a year! So, on the occasion of my 2nd birthday, here is what has been and is going on in my life...

As always, I am the one and only reigning kitty princess of the household, although I suspect that Mommy and Daddy have been friendly with outdoor kitties...but their loyalty belongs to me and me alone! And guess what?! Despite Mommy's protests, Daddy finally let me go outside! YAYYY!!! I love outside...there's so much out there...buggies and birdies and lotsa other neat stuff! And I AM going to catch one of those birdies someday...if they will just stop moving!

I like to play hide and seek with Mommy and Daddy outside...it's so much fun! There are these pine trees on the very outskirts of my yard, which are really close to the ground, and I love to hide there...Mommy or Daddy will come out on the porch, looking for me and calling, but they can't see me! hee hee hee! And just when they're about to turn around and go inside, I come running up and surprise them! You would think after doing this so many times, they wouldn't be surprised anymore, but they are! Those silly humans!

There is one not good thing about outside and that is other kitties. All the other kitties in the neighborhood want to sleep on MY porch or in MY yard!!! I mean, I know it IS the best house ever, but I am not sharing! Especially with the Orange Kitty, who just sits and sits on my porch and WON'T GO AWAY no matter how long I give her my patented "Evil Kitty Glare of Doom"! She is always there, whether I hiss or meow or anything...so she sits on her side of the porch, and I sit on mine. Hmmphh. Oh, and these other kitties which Mommy calls my "nieces and nephews" are always coming over and meowing at me too, especially when I have just fallen asleep in the sun, and then they want to try and come IN my house! I don't think so!!! MY humans, MY house, it's all MINE, MINE, MINE!!! (Note from Mommy: Can you tell Ally has just hit her "terrible two's"? *wink*)

Mommy made me go to the V-E-T the other day...bad Mommy! They stuck me and poked me and I was scared...you know I don't like strangers, Mommy! Plus, I had to sit in this cage thingie in the big moving thing (Note from Mommy: Big Moving Thing = Car), so I howled and whined, but they wouldn't let me out! Daddy yelled at Mommy for being mean to his "little bud"...hee hee hee, I am Daddy's special buddy, even though I love Mommy too! Finally I got to go home, and get out of the cage thingie! The only good thing about the cage thingie is that it's plastic...I just love plastic!

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
Make sure other kitties know that YOU are the kitty prince or princess of your home...I mean, you can't have other kitties taking over your place as rightful member of royalty!

Well, Mommy is bugging me to let her on the compy again, so I will stop for now, and hopefully I will write in here again really soon!

Purrs & kitty kisses,

Diary Entries from 1999

January 13, 1999

Dear Diary,
My crazy humans have FINALLY left the house, so now I have some time to sit & meditate. It has been really difficult to get my humans to understand that I am the reigning princess here, 'cause they sometimes think that just 'cause they're bigger, they get to rule the house! I don't think so! But after seven months of training, they're making great progress, although they STILL try to come and fetch me out of my favorite hiding places when I am trying to rest (especially the youngest human, Kelly)! Time, however, will correct that. They now know to come immediately at my beck and call, and to serve me only the tastiest food and freshest, coldest water. Now if I could only get them to let me outside...

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
As I have already established, the key to being a kitty princess (or prince) is making sure that your humans UNDERSTAND that you are the kitty princess (or prince), and are not to be questioned. However, in order to help your humans understand, and to make them happy, you must regularly show them that you appreciate them (as your underlings!) and love them. I do this by giving kitty kisses and/or purring and meowing to my humans...they like it a lot!

Talk to you tomorrow, Diary!

Dear Diary,
Today was such an exciting day! I got to play with my very favorite thing, PLASTIC! Daddy was trying to fix the toilet & he said I could help, so I supervised from the bathroom counter and made sure he was doing everything right. A couple of times I had to go look in the toilet tank to be SURE he was doing it right...but he was! And after he got done, he gave me the plastic bag that the toilet parts came in to play with! I was SO happy!
Note from Ally's mommy: I know that technically kitties aren't supposed to play with plastic bags due to possible suffocation, but we always watch Ally carefully when she plays with them...and she doesn't ever go inside them...she just likes to lay on top of them! :)
I laid in the sink on top of my plastic bag and was as happy as can be! Mommy says that she just can't figure out why I love plastic so much!

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
Choose a favorite thing (i.e. toy, food, or in my case, substance!) and stick to it! Make sure your humans KNOW that it's your favorite thing, so they'll be sure that you have it around!

Talk to you tomorrow, Diary!

Dear Diary,
Today, I am on a mission...to search for ants! They have been invading my mommy's shower, and I won't stand for it! No ants are gonna get by me! I found one this morning, and sent it on its merry way, and now I am going to sit right by the shower at all times (except for sleeping, eating, and writing in my diary of course!) until the last ant is gone! *five minutes pass* Soooo...there don't seem to be any more ants coming. Guess I scared those suckers off...heh, heh, heh!

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
Be diligent in protecting your home! After all, it IS yours, and everyone should know it (even ants)!

Dear Diary,
Oh my gosh, last night was SOOOO scary! 'Cause there was these really loud noise and flashing lights outside my house...WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT!? And I tried my best to be a brave guardkitty and protect my house, but it was way too scary, since I didn't know WHAT I was protecting it against. Aunt 'Chelle says it was just raining, and not to be scared, but I didn't believe her. I mean, HELLO, it was really loud, and the house was shaking. But finally it went away. I hope it doesn't ever come back! Mommy and Aunt 'Chelle said that I was a brave kitty anyways!

Besides that, I had a busy evening trying to keep that annoying little pest Kelly from bothering me while I was sleeping...she kept coming and licking me! I can do that all by myself, thank you very much! I don't need some half-grown human doing it for me! But she can be nice some of the time, so I only scratched her a little.

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
To keep your humans from doing really annoying things, just give them the "evil eye". You kitties know what I'm talking about...it works every time!

Dear Diary,
Last night was a really adventurous night for me! I went and hid down in the basement, where there's a ton of stuff for me to hide behind and not be seen! My family was worried 'cause I stayed down there a long time, and I wouldn't come out when they called me, but that's 'cause I was having so much fun! All the bugs and stuff live down there, 'cause it's under the ground, so it's lots of fun to hunt and play there! Plus, I can climb up really high on the boxes and old mattresses...so high that I feel like Super Kitty! Anyways, I did finally have to come back up and visit my family so that they knew I was okay. Now I want to go in the basement all the time! I don't understand why Mommy gets upset when I meow really loud for her to open the basement door so I can go down there...she always says something about it being "the middle of the night"...whatever that means! I just want to go play!

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
Mark out your territory so that everyone KNOWS that it is yours. For example, the basement is now MY play place, and I don't like it when anyone else ('cept Daddy) goes down there. You have to set down your ground rules and stick to them!

Dear Diary,
It's been a rough couple of days for me! Mommy says I'm going through something called "heat", whatever that means! All I know is that I feel miserable, and I really, REALLY, want to go outside, even more than usual! But I can't, 'cause Mommy says that's not allowed! Mommy says we're going on a trip tomorrow morning...but she won't say where...I wonder if it's to that really icky building where some strange lady poked me and prodded me and gave me SHOTS! I hope not, but that's the only place I've ever gone, except to Aunt Erica's house. Hmmm...this is not looking good! I just hope I feel better really soon!

No Kitty Princess tip for today...I'm just not up to it...sorry!

Talk to you later, Diary!

Dear Diary,
Well, thank goodness, I'm not in that thing called "heat" anymore! That was awful! Although Mommy keeps arguing with Daddy about something called "spay". Mommy wants me to be "spayed", but Daddy thinks I'll be "traumatized", whatever that means! Silly Daddy! I wonder if "spaying" is fun...hmmmm. Anyways, I resumed my ant watch at Mommy's shower today, 'cause someone's gotta do it! All you interested kitties, be sure to come visit my tent in April at CLAW's On the Prowl Fair! I'll be teaching on how to hunt for ants & keep indoor kitties entertained! Fun, fun, fun! On another note, my human aunt Kelly had something called a "birthday" this weekend, which involved having lots of LOUD people in my house! And some of them sat in MY chair...how rude! But they were fun to play with. They seem to have gone away now...I wonder if they're coming back. Mommy says no.

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
Be a furry active kitty and help other kitties by showing them how to do things or just by being their friend! CLAW is a very good way to get involved!

Dear Diary,
Today I would like to dedicate this journal entry to the adventures of me and my best friend, Straw! Mommy & all my other humans just think that Straw is, well...a plastic straw, but he's not! Straw can be a worm, or a big snake, or another kitty, or, or...or anything he wants to be! Sometimes those humans just have no imagination! Anyways, Straw goes everywhere with me...I carry him in my mouth just like my kitty mommy used to do with me. Sometimes we go upstairs, sometimes we go downstairs, sometimes we go in the basement, but we always have fun! I especially like to send Straw into rooms I can't get into, 'cause he can slide under the door and check it out for me. 'Cept sometimes when he does that, he won't come back out, no matter how long I call him! Silly Straw! That happened this morning, 'cause I sent Straw under the door into Aunt 'Chelle's room, but I couldn't get him to come back out! I called & called him, & then I started crying 'cause I was afraid Straw had gotten lost in there, but then Aunt 'Chelle threw Straw back out and shut her door! Really, Aunt 'Chelle can be so rude sometimes!

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day: Always protect your best friends, even if they ARE just plastic straws!

Talk to you tomorrow, Diary!

Dear Diary,
Today I would like to talk about the Big White Porcelain Thing (or BWPT). (Note from Mommy: Big White Porcelain Thing = Tub) The BWPT fascinates me, 'cause it's big and deep, and I can hide there 'cept when my humans look into the BWPT and find me. But then I can smash myself real close against the side of the BWPT and I can't see them anymore, so I'm pretty sure they can't see me! Also, the BWPT drips that wet stuff called "water". Sometimes it drips a lot, and sometimes only a little. I could watch the water drip out of the BWPT all day! WHERE does it come from? And why does it go away? These are questions I would like to answer during my kitty lifetime. Mommy always laughs really hard at me whenever I'm in the BWPT, although I'm sure I don't know why.

Update on Ant Hunting:
This morning, I found a REALLY big red ant with wings in Mommy's shower. But it was up high in the shower, and I couldn't climb up the tiles to get it. So I meowed really loud 'til Daddy came...but do you know what?! He didn't believe me when I told him there was an ant in there! He just said "no, no, little buddy...no ants in there!". Silly Daddy...he should know better than to doubt me, Ally, QUEEN of ant-hunting! So Daddy went away, and the ant finally came out, but then Aunt 'Chelle flushed it down the toilet! It just spoiled my fun, I tell you!

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
ALWAYS impress upon your humans what a great hunter you are! See, Daddy doubted my great hunting skills this morning, but you can guarantee he won't do that again!

Dear Diary,
Goodness, it's been a while since I've written in here! That's 'cause Mommy keeps hogging the computer with all her Site Fights stuff...so I had to sneak in here when she wasn't around! She needs to learn to share... I'm a very busy kitty and need the computer too! Anyways, I found out what "spay" was!!! It was not fun! Mommy left me at that vet place, and they put me to sleep, and when I woke up, all the hair on my tummy was gone, and it HURT! But that was a couple of weeks ago, so I feel better now! I got to see SNOW fur the very first time last week! Note from Mommy: We live in Atlanta, so this is a rare occurrence :)!) It was furry cold and wet, but I liked to eat it! It went away really fast, though. Now it is beautifur, warm, and sunny out, so I sit on my window seat with the window open in Mommy's room and enjoy the air!

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
Enjoy the weather, whether cold and snowy, or warm and sunny! And make sure you have the best spot in the house to look out from!

Dear Diary,
It's been a while again...Mommy's been using the computer overtime as Fairy Lark for the SF...and I've been furry busy with my CLAW activities! Offur than that, I've just been exercising my rights as the only kitty at my house! I am furry excited that April is almost here...so much is happening then! I'm graduating with my BCC from CLAW, Meowing-In with Queen Midnight, AND it's my furry first birthday on the 14th! Lots of excitement there! (Shhh, this is Ally's Mommy here...I'm having a surprise party for Ally's 1st Birthday! More details later! :) )

Kitty Princess Tip of the Day:
Always claim your rightful sleeping places as the kitty of the house! Fur example, my place is the whole foot of Mommy's bed...and YES, I am entitled to it! :)

Talk to you later, Diary!
Kitty kisses,
>^..^< Ally
