High security at courts

All persons entering the Half-Way Tree Criminal Court are being searched by police officers. These high security measures at the court follows threats from an anonymous caller to the court yesterday, who said a Resident Magistrate would be killed.

Court sessions were halted abruptly yesterday as the judges adjourned the courts for the police officers to search everyone present.

One RM., who chose to remain anonymous said they are still not certain if it was just a prank call or if it was serious. "But we are not going to take any chances because time is very serious now," the RM., said.

Many persons had to sit outside the court and enter only when their names were called.

Threatening calls have been made to the court before. Two months ago a prank caller called the courts office and said a bomb had been planted inside. People were forced to leave the courtyard in a hurry while members of the bomb squad searched for the bomb. None was found.
