- SERVED IN THE VIETNAM WAR. THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES AND OF THOSE
- WHO REMAIN MISSING ARE INSCRIBED IN THE ORDER THEY WERE TAKEN FROM US."
- The Moving Wall is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans National Memorial, "The Wall," which is located
- in Washington D.C. The Moving Wall is taken to various cities and towns throughout the country
- providing Americans with an opportunity to pay homage to the more than 58,000 Vietnam Veterans
- who gave their lives for their country.
- The "Moving Wall" half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was displayed at Stafford Park
- in Maple Heights, Ohio, beginning on May 6, 1998. This moving memorial
- was open 24 hours a day for the duration of the visit and the volunteer staff was available to assist
- in finding names and answer questions. When John Devitt attended the 1982 dedication in Washington,
- he felt the healing power of "The Wall". He vowed to take that healing to persons who did not have
- the opportunity to go to Washington. The first Moving Wall was built by John, Norris Shears, Gerry Haver,
- and other Vietnam veteran volunteers. It went
on display in Tyler, Texas in October of 1984. Three of these Moving Walls
now travel the USA from April to November, spending about a week at each
site.
