Walt Disney Home Video turns back the hands of time at the exclusive world premiere of "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" on Aug. 20, 1998.

As New York City's Pier 63 is transformed into a magical 17th century London seaport, hundreds of special guests, including the film's Billy Zane, Irene Bedard, Donal Gibson and Judy Kuhn, as well as some of today's hottest stars and their families, such as Christie Brinkley, Gabriel Byrne, Barry Bostwick, Lorraine Bracco, LL Cool J, Kevin Newman, Sissy Spacek, Meredith Vieira and Montel Williams, among others, will be treated to a marvelous evening filled with live performances, fun-filled games, a dazzling fireworks display and the arrival of an authentic tall ship.

The exciting festivities will be followed by the much-anticipated outdoor premiere of "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World," which debuts only on home video on Aug. 25, 1998.

As celebrities walk the red carpet, they will enter the bustling world of 17th century London, the striking setting of "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World," filled with exciting games, delightful entertainment and rousing music. Children will be welcomed with a miniature British flag and a special "Captain's Log" filled with Pocahontas stamps to play various games throughout the evening.

In addition, maritime characters will mingle with guests as they anxiously await the arrival of Pocahontas to the new world.

Amidst a spectacular fireworks extravaganza, the majestic tall ship Bounty will arrive at the seaport as Pocahontas is welcomed to the new world by a spirited chorus of costumed characters singing "What a Day in London," one of the all-new songs featured in "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World."

Reconstructed in 1960 for the cinema classic "Mutiny on the Bounty," the 169-foot-long tall ship Bounty is a perfect replica of the original. Completely seaworthy, the 412-ton vessel has become a historic landmark and continues to sail the seas for various educational, humanitarian and entertainment causes.

Following in the footsteps of the "Pocahontas" premiere, which debuted in Central Park, "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" will be screened outside on the pier in an incredible, state-of-the-art theater created especially for the event. A stunning 42-foot-tall replica of Big Ben will tower over the Hudson River as the extraordinary movie screen is revealed when Pocahontas arrives at the premiere.

"Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" is set in 1612 England, where Pocahontas and her friends embark on the thrilling adventure of a lifetime. The movie reunites the voice talents from Disney's 33rd animated masterpiece, "Pocahontas," the $347 million international box office smash that became the No. 1 family film of 1995.

  The all-star cast includes Irene Bedard (Pocahontas), Judy Kuhn (singing Pocahontas), David Ogden Stiers (Ratcliffe) and Russell Means (Powhatan) reprising their original roles, and welcomes Donal Gibson as the voice of John Smith, "Titanic" star Billy Zane as John Rolfe, Jean Stapleton as Mrs. Jenkins, Finola Hughes as Queen Anne and Jim Cummings (voice of Winnie the Pooh) as King James. "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" is collectibly priced at $26.99 (suggested retail price).

Continuing where the original exciting story left off, Disney's all-new animated movie, "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" is a fun-filled adventure, set among the bustling city of London in 1612. Upon hearing rumors of John Smith's death, and wishing to encourage a truce between her people and the settlers, Pocahontas sets sail to the "new world" as an ambassador for peace -- where she crosses paths with a friendly English diplomat, John Rolfe.

Arriving in London, she is swept away with this breathtaking new land and attempts to fit in with all its curious customs. However, she soon discovers a sinister plot by Ratcliffe, and in a heroic display of courage, tries to convince the King to save her people. Ultimately, Pocahontas must choose between the love of her past ... and the path of her future.

"Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" has a running time of 72 minutes. The feature is presented in Digitally-Mastered Hi-Fi Stereo Surround and is close- captioned for the hearing impaired.
