LOWELL -- The Lowell Lock Monsters will play a five-game pre-season exhibition schedule highlighted by a local appearance at the Chelmsford Forum (formerly Tully) on Monday, Sept. 28, against the Providence Bruins.

The first-year AHL franchise will also play the Worcester IceCats on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg.

The Monsters' three other pre-season games are in Fall River, on Long Island and in Glens Falls, N.Y.

"These games will give us the opportunity to further evaluate the players in our organization," said Lowell head coach Frank Anzalone. "There are several roster spots we'll be filling with free agents, so there's no question play will be competitive and intense.

"These players are battling for their livelihood and there are only 20 or 21 spots available."

Approximately 30 to 35 players are expected to report to training camp at the Paul E. Tsongas Arena beginning Sunday, Sept. 20.

There will be an afternoon team meeting on Sunday, and physical exams will be taken Monday morning.

The first on-ice practice session will start at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21 at the Tsongas Arena.

The Lowell-Providence game at Chelmsford Arena (junction of Rtes. 3 and 129) starts at 7 p.m. on Sept. 28

Tickets for that game went on sale today at 10 a.m. at the Tsongas Arena box office and all Ticketmaster locations. You may also call 617-931-2222 to order tickets.
