When the ride was over Amanda got off feeling a little dizzy, and it was not because of the ride it self. As soon as he had he feet planted firmly on the ground Nick grabbed Amanda by the waist and kissed her, in front of anyone who might have been watching. "Nick," she whispered, "people are staring." "I don’t care," he replied, "no girl has ever made me feel like this and a bunch of curious onlookers aren’t going to ruin it."

Just then Brian and Manda walked up holding hands. Both looked deliriously happy, and from what they had just seen Nick and Amanda weren’t doing to bad themselves. "Ladies, would you two mind terribly if Nick and I had a word in private," Brian asked. The girls shook their heads, "that’s okay" said Manda "I think we need to talk as well."

As soon as they were out of the girls earshot Brian said to Nick, "we have to tell them." "I know," he sighed, "I just want her to like me because of me and not because of who we are." "Nick, I think it safe to say from what I saw that she likes you." Nick flushed a little, "Well we got quite a show our selves from, the top of the Ferris Wheel." Now it was Brian’s turn to flush, "you guys could see that." Nick nodded and grinned at his friend. "Okay I agree we tell them, but not tonight, lets give it a little more time." He pleaded. Brian looked at his friend, "okay Nick, but we have to tell them soon or they may get mad when they find out."

When they got back to the girls they were giggling uncontrollably, "shh.. here they come," whispered Manda. Slipping his arm around Manda’s waist Brian looked around the group "what should we do next:" "How about the haunted house," Nick suggested with a mischievous grin. "No..," shrieked Amanda. Brian looked at her curiously. Nick started laughing and looked at his friend, "inside joke." He explained.

Suddenly there was a loud crack of thunder and a burst of lightning through the arm. "Oh great," Nick muttered, "another lovely Florida summer thunder storm." The sky chose that moment to open up and begin pouring rain. The girls shrieked and ran for cover with Nick and Brain close at their heels. Shivering Amanda clung to Nick’s arm. Another burst of lightning cut through the sky and Amanda jumped clutching Nick tighter. "Hey, it’s only lightning don’t be scared." She looked at him and tried to explain, "when I was a little girl, " she began through chattering teeth, "I….I" another crack of thunder boomed around them. She looked at Manda pleading for help.

Manda nodded, "When she was a little girl she got caught in a thunder storm. She was only about 6 or 7 and didn’t know what to do, so she hid under a tree. When her parents found her she was unconscious and they rushed her to the emergency room." Brian gasped, "she got hit by lightning?" "Well, yes and no, it didn’t hit her directly, it hit the tree, and in turned zapped her. She’s been terrified of thunder and lightning ever since." Nick looked at Amanda who was on the verge of tears. "It’s okay," he soothed, "I won’t let you get hurt." She only clung to his arm tighter, another burst of lightning this time very close to them flashed through the sky. She began to whimper softly, Nick pulled her close to him and held her, "it’s okay, it will be okay you’ll see I promise, don’t be scared."

"Maybe, we should go home," Brian suggested, "I think the rain cancelled any further plans for more rides." They all nodded and Amanda looked at everyone apologetically, "I’m sorry I ruined your evening." Brian and Manda shook their heads, "you didn’t ruin our evening trust us," Manda assured, " I know why don’t you guys come over and hang out some more tonight. At least until the storm passes." Nick and Brian nodded in agreement and they all started back towards Brian jeep.
