Biography

Lorenzo D. Domínguez is currently Director, Strategic Marketing for the Department of Information Technology at The New York Life Insurance Company. His reponsibilities include developing the Intranet and Internet strategic marketing and public relations planning for the department with a budget of over 200 million. Duties also include researching and writing senior executive reports, summarizing the Department's work and emerging technology trends and applications employed by this Fortune 100 company.

Prior to New York Life, Lorenzo was Director, Telecommunications & Information Technology Division of ICM Conferences & IMR Forums (New York, NY). In this position, Lorenzo's duties include strategic negotiations with national industry and media associations for multi-media partnerships and Fortune 1000 corporations for $25,000+ sponsorships. Also incumbent of the position is intensive deadline-driven research requiring direct correspondence with Fortune 500 executives and experts inquiring in-depth about industry issues. Findings are applied to develop nation-wide business executive telecommunications, information systems, Internet and multi-media technology industry conferences. Furthermore, duties require production of new product lines including large-scale multi-track events with nine months production schedules, budgets of a quarter of a million and projected revenue of one to three million per event.

From 1994 to 1998, Lorenzo was the Assistant Director of Development at the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) in New York City. In this capacity, Mr. Domínguez assisted with funding the FPA’s 3 million dollar budget. His responsibilities included engendering foundation and corporate support through research, writing of grant proposals, presentations and corresponding with the private and public sectors.

Mr. Domínguez also developed and implemented over 100 events, lectures and seminars as the Associate Director of Events, serving as the primary liaison between the diplomatic, NGO and international affairs community and Foreign Policy Association’s membership since the Fall of 1994. He also assisted in the programming of an additional fifty events, including several black-tie dinners and luncheons for major heads of state and government.

Before working at the FPA, Mr. Domínguez was a graduate student at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University (SIPA) from 1992-1994, where he concentrated in Human Rights, International Law and Latin America. While at SIPA he served as the Events Coordinator for the Institute of Latin American and Iberian Studies (ILAIS), the Editor of the Dean’s Newsletter, the Social Chair for the SIPA Student Association and founder of the Foreign Language Exchange, for which he was awarded a President and Provost Student Initiative Fund Grant from Columbia University.

From 1991-1992, Mr. Domínguez completed studies for a Masters in Political Science at at San Jose State University in San Jose, California, prior to which he had worked in the fields of advertising, marketing and public relations. He also has a Bachelors Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in International Cultural Studies.
