April 25, 1998--Dedication of Lake Erie Beach #1

On April 25, 1998 six fellow fire companies sent apparatus to join us in the dedication of our 1997 Spartan/RD Murray Pumper/Tanker into service for the Town of Evans and her residents. The following fire companies and apparatus were present:

Angola Vol. Fire Dept.: #6
Cattaragus Indian Reservation Vol. Fire Co.: #1
Evans Center Vol. Fire Co.: #2
Farnham Vol. Fire Dept.: #3
Hanover Center Vol Fire Co.: #E513
(Formerly Lake Erie Beach #4)

North Evans Vol. Fire Co: #2

This piece of apparatus was dedicated to our only active Charter Member Anthony "Tony" Weglewski. This decision was made for two reasons. After our original #1 was retired years ago, the membership voted to retire the number designation as well. This designation has since not been used until this new apparatus. After weeks of pleading with Tony as to the status of the #1 designation, he finally agreed as the only active Charter Member that we could use the designation. In appreciation for this and for Tony's 46 years of service to the Lake Erie Beach Vol. Fire Co. Inc., Lake Erie Beach #1 was dedicated in his honor. On each side of #1's cab there are two small initials. These initials are "T.W." for Tony Weglewski.

Also in attendance were Father Nowak and Councilman Thomas Csati. Our thanks go out to all of those in attendance for helping us dedicate this beautiful piece of equipment into service. May it serve us and those whom it protects with efficiency and safety.
