LyMe: an overview

LyMe (acronym for something you'll have to figure
out yourself) is a four-piece band that plays a mix
between hardcore, metal, trip-hop, funk, punk and whatever
else it takes to get their straightforward environmental
social and political message into everyone's heads.

The songs are performed in theatrical style, to
communicate in a clearer way. With songs
embracing malay children songs, spanish rap,
in-your-face hardcore/metal, and softly harmonized
melodies, the band's boundaries are hard to tell.

Daryl Goh, a columnist of the Star Newspaper
once wrote: "[Lyme's] delirious set proved to match
the hype that has followed the band for over two
years.." "...flailing arms, rants, and stage
diving, and you could tell that these head-
case antics were winning the crowd over with
ease..." "...the hastily assembled chaos on
'something' never lacked the studied edge and
loony exaggeration."

Since 2001, Lyme entered a temporary holiday due to some of the members of the band having to settle their education abroad. Lyme will be back in action in the future. Meanwhile Bongsai Records will continue the search for bands and artists who push the boundaries of creativity and are willing to spread their message the DIY way.

Bongsai Records

Bongsai Records is a company registered early in the year 2000 by Lyme's member, Boy (Azman), in a collective effort to create a channel for the youth in malaysia to communicate art in any form (music, literature, painting, etc), independent from the exploitative, profit-making culture.

Bongsai's first effort, Lyme's debut album, is currently being sold in shops around malaysia and being passed around by friends of friends, of friends. Its debut is the first from an upcoming series of mixed releases from Bonsgai Records that aim towards reaching and educating the masses with positive, uncensored, creatively-free and 100% eco-friendly music/art.

So basically, the system where we live is there to be used,
not the other way around. We're all slaves of it one way or the
other, its just how much of a slave you want to be in order to get
what you want..or, in the media business, how much you want
to prostitute yourself.

We play any gig as long as.. its fairly paid (The size of the gig is directly proportional to the amount of cash each band is getting..) and as long as it does not jeopardize the integrity of the band and the label (ie. obvious and blatant commercial exploitation, racist/xenophobic attitudes, and other things that suck.)

The label wishes to thank the malaysian 'otai' D.I.Y.ers, who are not only excellent friends but have also provided Lyme with guidance, advice and an unconditional help.
Yep, corporate rock sucks. So there.

And last but not least, hi mom.
