Family Day's Press Conference
Posse Records organised a press meeting to introduce the compilation
to the media reporters and it was set up at KL's Hard Rock Cafe.
The vibe was nice, there was a nice food serving and the stage was set
in front of nearly 30 chairs, where the reporters sat to watch the bands
play one by one. Not all the bands were performing that day, only the
ones that play gigs often made it to play. (The other bands are just
project bands or bands that are inactive). There was a big signboard
that read "Family Day" and everyone was nervous. When our turn came
we played the Compilation song, Things that go bump in the night, in
front of a serious looking, seated and quiet audience, who seemed to
be under some sort of spell or something cause they looked blankly to
the stage as if they had never seen a live band before. The sound was
awesome, though. The quality cannot be mistaken, its hard rock cafe
after all. That was nice. The other bands played their songs and soon
it was all over. The press people went over to the food tables and
quickly forgot they were there to write about a local alternative rock
compilation (very few of them were actually writing anything at all),
and were happy enough with the few questions and answers asked during
a brief session plus a printout of the compilation's details, which was
given out to all (written in Malay). Obviously, the mainstream media
doesnt need to go to gigs to know about the bands, they would rather
see them perform in aircon rooms, and sitting down, nice and clean..
well they dont know what they are missing! Go to gigs and mosh, we say!
