Zodiac Club
The Nasty Show

This was not the usual gig for Lyme. First of all,
it was a hip-hop underground scene gathering, and
until date, there has been a great gap between the
different styles of music in the underground.

In a attempt to try to unify, or at least, bring
closer together the different music scenes,
the hip-hop/rap band Integrated Soul approached
Lyme, asking if they wanted to perform in this
exclusively hip-hop gig. They also had in mind
to introduce and blend the more analog,
acoustic and guitar-based music with the more
beat-bass hip-hop style of music. Or at least
die in the process.

Well, everything started fine. The bands were set
to perform, but there was little attendance of
people, reason why the gig was pushed to start
later. It was soon found out that there was
another hip-hop gathering later at night in
another place, explaining the small amount of
people. Maybe it was better that way, Ill
explain later. Anyways, there was a great
attendance of moshers and hardcore music people,
surprising Lyme for their support! It all
started then, and Lyme opened up with their
own Hunger to Rule, moving quickly to Uneasy
to ease things down. After 'uneasy', 'Nothing'
was played. Then things started getting a
little sour between the moshers and the hip-hop
crowd (who were sitting down all the time).
At one chance, Cheez sarcastically said
"c'mon guys, I know its hard, but we've got to
be a bit open minded about this.." and a loud
"fuck you!" was heard from somewhere in the crowd!
Seriously, it was very funny, sounded more like
a rehearsed line for a TV show. Lyme then
introduced the whole intention of unity behind
the gig, and with it the new song made up with
the duo Integrated Soul, which sounded quite alright!
After this, one of the moshers (I dont blame him)
complained to one of the sitting guys about their
lack of support (I dont blame him either), so a small
discussion started up, growing uncomfortably big,
pushing Lyme to frantically start their newest
song (which was in the song list)..but having
to cut it short after the attention was all
placed on the discussion on the dance floor.
A few words were exchanged out loud, insults
flew everywhere and tension was terribly big for
the band! Anyways, the show continued after the two
originally discussing guys shook hands and Lyme went
on to Size does matter. After size, there was a
friendly chat between the moshers and the band,
and they agreed to play Korn's blind. After Blind,
the band's not-so-new-anymore psycho experiment,
Something, was up to close the night. And that was
it...the hardcore crowd disappeared shortly after,
and Lyme stayed back to enjoy the rest of the night
together with the other hip-hop performers, who
blew the cap off Lyme's members with their whole
new approach at vocal styles and with the performance
of two amazing scratchers in the middle of it all.
Afterwards, lepaking and hanging out in the mamak stall
across Zodiac made up the most united part of the gig:
enjoying a teh-o-ais limau with both the hardcore and
the hip-hop people! Quite an experience for Lyme, it was!
