Bukit Jalil's Millenium Concert

It was nothing less than Bukit Jalil! The
stadiums built for the commonwealth games!
Very impressive it was. There were ads on TV
and Radio as well (though I couldnt get to
hear or see them) and everything was planned
to be the biggest event of the year..erm..
well maybe they spent all their budget on the
rental of the stadium, because the stage
reminded you of a wedding dinner tent! :)
But hey, the organisers worked their asses
off, didnt sleep for days and nights just
to get the show through, so lets not take
away their credit cause they deserve it!
The concert started late since it was
raining half of the afternoon. The first
bands played and their sound was beautiful!
wow, the sound system+engineer rocked!
Our turn came up around 10pm, but by that
time the amps were tired and so was the
engineer..so our mixing wasnt the best..
but it was, surprisingly, better than the
panasonic sound! and Lymeus Delta worked
fine! (I borrowed a monitor from a friend).
Our set started with a very relaxed
'Entenderas', where we tested the ground
and got ourselves a little more confident.
After the animals stampede at the end of
the song, victor started Keropok's delayed
riff and both the crowd and us started to
get off! After Keropok ended came the drums
for 'Jungle Mech' during which there was a
cool jumping session on drums and shouts!
Then Lymeus started off playing his part,
later to be joined by Boy and Victor. The
sound for this song was definitely the
most understandable. It went on well, and
our last song of the set was Purda Kurda,
which had us moshing half of it and
swimming for the rest of it! The stage was
not too far from the crowd and stage dives
were risky but possible, like Syarul
(Love me Butch's singer) proved during the
beginning of Purda Kurda, so I wasnt going
to miss the fun! I ended up jumping as well
at the end of the song, but my leg landed
on this guy's face! :( I apologized after
picking him up and made real sure he was
alright before being carried away to the side
of the crowd. The whole concert was pretty much
worth the 25 ringgits I think, considering all
the flaws and mistakes around...hey, Ill let you
guys know what happened behind the scenes..!
There was a lack of a strong hand to stick
to the original plan. i.e. The order of the
bands and the band's payments. At the end
of the day, some bands were not paid accordingly
to their 50% before and 50% after the gig, and
they all played their hearts out and deserved
to be paid fully! At the time of this writing,
some bands were still calling the organiser to
ask about the rest of their deal. Aside from
this, the soundcheck the night before was useful
only for the bands to get used to the place,
cause the amps and the drums were changed the
next morning! They were better than the ones in
the soundcheck, but then why did we soundcheck
if we were not going to use those amps? Ok
maybe just to get the whole sound system
working. Who knows. The important fact is
that the sound was good during most of the
concert. And the people attending hopefully
had a good time as well, with a huge variety of
music to suit every taste. Shame that the concert
had to be stopped at midnight and bands like
Republic of Brickfields and Butterfingers didnt
get to play. And the tickets were sold out at the
entrance at around 10pm and I had a friend
among the ones who were also outside, who
couldnt come in because of that. I dont know
how many attended, but I met lots of people who
travelled from other states just for the gig!
wow! Thanks for all of you who came and gave
us your support! Jumpa Lagi next time!
THE END!
