Johor Baru's Gig

The southernmost city in Malaysia, awesome scene
happening down there, believe me! We got a lift
in two buses rented by the organiser, and arrived
there around early night of the day before the gig.
After sleeping in a cosy room for the night,
we left the next morning for soundcheck in a
beautiful events hall called Dewan Jubli Intan,
where the gig was going to take place. The gig
started with a good amount of people showing up,
many being JB skins, who were there to show their
support for the ska/punk bands playing that
afternoon (The Official, ACAB, among others).
(the ska/punk scene in JB is very big!) Anyhow,
the gig went on happily and energetic, and our
turn came after afternoon prayers, thats around
7:30pm. We played a friendly set, which started
with Something (first time we start with Something!)
and blended it together with Purda Kurda, which
kept people dancing to them! It was really cool.
The sound quality was amazing! Very much above
average, really. And Lymeus Delta found its dream
table, but I couldnt buy it off the place..Ill look
around for it. It was great, foldable, perfect size,
with wheels and with two levels..Im still dreaming
about that table. :) Anyways, the gig was pretty
good, we closed with a shy encore of Jungle Mech
and left the stage for Republic of Brickfields
to spread their reggae groove and positive vibes
on the people. Right after our set we hung out and
met lots of local guys who were around inside the
place. I made friends with many and still keep in
touch with some. Cool people. Later on, we went to
eat in a very nice place near the water that
separates Malaysia from Singapore, and after
eating our hearts out and enjoying the view, we
jumped back in the buses and headed back on
a five hour trip to Kuala Lumpur. Great feeling
playing in JB, hope it happens again!
