VOR Disco's Sound Struck

Our first gig at Penang Island! There were no flyers around KL and Penang had a few, released a couple of days before the gig. Needless to say, the turnup was around 20 or 30 people. Nevermind, we still played for the fun of it (we didnt even get paid). The place is nice though! It reminded us to The Warp or Sydney 2000, pretty large and disco-looking. It had a big stage and there were chairs all scattered around the dark indoors. We arrived at Penang with the Octobuses on Friday night and we went walking around the area (we stayed for the night at one of the backpacker hotels in town) and visited a couple of places before we went back to sleep. The next day we had to wake up at ten to go for the soundcheck, but when we got to the place, the instruments and the amps were not set up yet, so we had to go with the octobus' help to pick them up somewhere and bring them back to VOR. After that was done, soundcheck started around 3 or 4pm and ended at 6pm, so the gig started around that time! The bands played one by one, with a good sound and with a good mood. Our set was without Lymeus, this time because I couldnt find a monitor at all! Remember I dont have a monitor since the Panasonic gig..I have been borrowing monitors ever since.. well I bought a really cheap one but it blew up after two jams and a gig. Anyways, VOR wouldnt borrow me any because they were all in use, so we couldnt use Lymeus Delta. But anyhow, the gig was fun and energetic! Even though there was hardly anyone, aside from the bands, it was a lot of fun. We played our new song from the compilation and Singh (Love Me Butch's drummer) helped us doing the evil laughs near the end of the song! That was cool! We finished our set with Something..I even messed up the beginning of the song for not being playing Lymeus Delta! Pretty confusing, really. Hey, but nothing too bad, we were all having fun of each other after the set was over, there was a friendly vibe in the air and everyone felt safe and relaxed. The other bands played great as well, and you could just sit and bob your head to their music. :) After the gig was over we headed back with the Octobus again (Even though I think this is the last time Octopus will borrow their buses, since we were told not to smoke but we did anyhow (I dont smoke though, its bad for your health, hehe) and did lots of noise too.) Anyways, we headed to hang out by the beach (I guess the organiser felt guilty for the poor organisation and for still complaining that we ask too much!) and we had time to swim and relax. After that, around 4 a.m. of Sunday we headed back on a long trip to KL, to arrive around eleven in the morning. Sleep? Not yet, we had to shower and go to the gig at the warp, where Love me Butch and Blindtribe, two bands that played the day before in Penang, had to play this day again. After all was over, I managed to catch some sleep before having to wake up on monday to go to college. Considering everything else, it was a pretty cool gig! I think we enjoyed the trip itself more than the gig..hehe. And I'm still wondering what were those thousand cans of coke the organiser had in the back of the bus for.. weird, huh? anyways, cool gig.
