Thomas Singer Sterling Silver Bracelet

Navajo Artist Thomas Singer handmade this beautiful silver bracelet. It is solid .925 Sterling Silver with overlay patterns on top. Measures almost 1/2" wide and 6.75" (adjustable to fit a 6" to 7.5" wrist).

Thomas Singer is a Navajo Indian from Winslow, Arizona. Growing up in Winslow, it became his goal to continue the work of his father. Using rug patterns and story tellers of Indian ways, Mr. Singer uses Sterling Silver and Turquoise to create artistic expressions of the Navajo traditional ways. Mr. Singer states, "I make our jewelry out of Sterling Silver... every piece [is] made with meanings from traditional ways of our way of living. My father was a silversmith, he taught me and wanted me to continue. It was my father's dream, so [I] have to continue his belief."

In the 1960s, Thomas Singer became famous for inventing the usage of turquoise and coral chips in silverwork, known as "chip-inlay." So successful was this invention, thousands of Navajos now copy the method and every Indian Jewelry store carries some form of chip- inlay.

Mr. Singer's work is well known. His work is featured in Enduring Traditions: Art of the Navajo (Lois Essary Jacka, Northland Publishing, 1994, p. 90) and the November, 1994 issue of Arizona Highways. One can always tell Mr. Singer's work. He marks his work with T. Singer or with a T and a crescent moon. Whether Mr. Singer has created a bola tie, buckle, ring, or bracelet, he states that "All my jewelrys are made to satisfy my customers and they're very unique and made very different. [I] try hard to make different jewelrys."

This piece is sure to appreciate in value with the proper care. You can own this work of art from a well known and respected Navajo artist for only $100.
