Leave Sell Back
 

- An enlisted Marine is entitled to payment of unused leave if discharged under Honorable conditions, or released from active duty.  An enlisted Marine who voluntarily extends an enlistment for the first time is entitled to payment of unused accrued leave on the effective date of that extension agreement.

- An enlisted Marine may elect to receive payment for a portion of the accrued leave and have the remaining unused leave carried forward to a new or extended enlistment.  The following applies:

  Reenlistment - A Marine may sell back leave when he/she reenlist three calendar
                 months or less before the end of their current contract.

  Extension - A Marine may sell back leave on the effective date of a first extension
                 of an enlistment contract.

  60 Day Limit - Effective 10 February 1976, an enlisted Marine cannot receive
                 payment for more than 60 days of unused leave during a military career.  Payments
                 for unused accrued leave before this date will not be counted towards this limit.
