History: Founded in 1925, Olympiakos is the most popular club in Greece 
with millions of fans all over the country. 
The basketball team reborned in the '90s when Sokratis Kokkalis took 
over the administration, the team finished in 2nd place 
at the Greek championship and got the ticket for the European 
Championship, after 15 years. 
Olympiakos is the most successful team in Greece in the last five years,
with 4 consecutive championships and twice at the final-four. 
Big names of international basketball such as Zarko Paspalj, Roy Tarpley, 
Alexander Volkov, Walter Berry, Eddie Johnson, Willie Anderson passed 
from Piraeus. In 1993 the best Greeek center, Panayiotis Fassoulas, came from 
Thessaloniki and together with George Sigalas, Dragan Tarlach, 
Milan Tomic, Franco Nakic,Efthemis Bakatsias, Demetrios Papanikolaou 
and Davide Rivers Piraeus tried to be the European Champion. 
This year coach Dusan Ivkovic (World Champion with the national team of 
Yugoslavia in 1990) replaced Yiannis Ioannidis and Olympiakos finally 
won the Euroleague final-four. 
Olympiakos won the first championship in 1949. The big stars were the 
brothers Yiannis and Alekos Spanoudakis (Yiannis played in Italy 
for Virtus Bologna)and 11 years later the team won the secondchampionship. 
Two famous Greek coaches, Fedon Matheou and Costas Mourouzis were at 
the bench.In 1978 Olympiakos became the first Greek team ever played 
in the final six of European Champions Cup. 
This year the team finished first placed in the regular season of the 
Greek Championship and finally won the Greek Championship. 
In Europe this team was 4th in the first round of the EuroLeague, 
3rd in the second round and qualified to the final-four winning 
against Partizan (2-1) and Panathinaikos (2-0) with home disadvantage
and finally won in the semi-final against Smelt Olympia and the final 
game against Barcelona.

1996, 1997, 6 times Greek Cup Holder: 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1994, 1997

The Chairman SOKRATIS KOKKALIS Sokratis Kokkalis is the Chairman of Olympiakos. 
Year of birth: 1939 Studied at the University of Berlin Department 
of Physics Expertised on Telecommunications. 
Owner of Intracom Telecommunications from 1977 Sokratis Kokkalis is 
the Chairman of Olympiakos Basketball Club since 1991. 
He also is the Chairman of Olympiakos Football Club since 1990, 
and Olympiakos Volleyball Club since 1991. 
With his leadership, the Basketball and the Volleyball club succeeded
in Greece and Europe. 
This year Olympiakos achieved a great goal, winning almost everything. 
The Basketball team won the "three crown" (Greek Championship, Greek Cup 
and the Euroleague Championship. The Football team won the Greek Championship. 
The Volleyball team won the Greek Cup. The WaterPolo team won the Greek Cup. 
The next goal of Sokratis Kokkalis is to lead the Football team to 
the finals of the Champions League.
