Session Start: Sun Jun 07 21:12:23 1998 * Logging #browsers to: [#browsers.log 6-7-98] Did you look at the ascii art in the last icq lesson? They are like little people made with letters and numbers. Cute never had a chance to see that yet oz Here is the URL: http://privat.schlund.de/graphicq/gone.htm that is cool OZ. that site I got an email from someone that used one like that for their signature. Really cute. Hi cm. I thought perhaps everyone is studying the newly posted exam Did you try the email again Flo? No, I didn't oz, because I will have to leave Outlook Express & concentrate on Netscape to do it. did you all notice the title of this channel? Did you understand how to get the sound? Note question # 7. I ran out of time, and used what little I had to explore all the settingsof Netscape of the exam What is it Candy? was the web created by our Richard created by a spider? was one of three possible answers think eagel did a good job making up the quiz I just saw our title, and we are not abandoned. We have Oz and she has given us enough URLs to last all summer yes she did. Sure hope Richard is better There is no excuse for failure in taking the exam and not passing it Be sure to check out the one with the word utah in it. It is very very good and also the one with trinity. These are in the letter from VU. Lesson #13 Yup--the most comprehensive one is http://www-medlib.med.utah.edu/travel/ns40/ns4navigate.html What should I do to bring up the exam, without losing this page? Everytime I try to go somewhere else I lose this - open again, & can't get back Click on the navigator wheel at the bottom of the page and you will get a new window. This one should go to the task bar. or click on the "-" on the top mIRC line Flo is not in mirc and this channel will go to the task bar oh Uh oh--what on earth is the task bar? so sholly teach At the bottom of the page of windows program. Oh--OK--maybe that is what is called the component bar on a Mac KC is on a Mac? (hanging head) (digging toe in dirt) Yup I knew there was something wrong with KC lol thanks a BUNCH I worked on a mac some last year but don't remember much about it. your welcome Have you taken your test yet? no gonna? I tried to ask this on Friday. "Threading" is that the cobwebs on the sides of. not sure yet. you can use the lessons for answers I'm ignoring candyman--he makes fun of my Mac Eagle had me read it last night and it had the answers on it so I can't take it. unlike college email when you try to answer on the reply button no attachments allowed Vu will not accept due to viruses and a firewall Some day some one will tell me what "Threading" is! put up the "secret" oz I am looking for some info on it Florence. Fun to see who comes in. the button with the lines on it to the left of the Subject, sender datebars that is the threading button when you click it your messages are sorted in thread order. all email on the same subject is together next to one another The thread means that if you send a message about cows and I answer it and Jayne also answers it they will form a thread. oz has a gateway puter One message is listed under another in order of when they were received. No wonder I didn't no. Aint had no cows! Seriously. It is used for sending group mailings then? When you look at your mail and there is a spool of thread beside a message that means that there is another message there about the same subject. Sometimes. Must be only used in Netscape e-mail. I have never even seen the word in Explorer. If there is more than one message there will be a small + sign beside it Couldn't find the word in any of my books either. If you click on the + then the other message will be opened. Does it depend on how your mail is sorted when it comes in? There is an option to set for it. I just have never seen it before. Where do you set the option? I am justnow starting to find the differences between Outlook Express & netscape Sorry-you click on the four horizontal lines beside the word subject. I can see that I must start actually using Netscape's email to understand these things. Hmmmmmmmm I just clicked on it--the lines changed--but I can tell nothign else To be honest, I have (and even today) opened all my mail & replied in OIE. what is supposed to happ0en when you click it? With threads the two emails you sent me about sound I have only the first one you sent showing. The other one is hidden until I click on the + Just do that from force of habit. Oh really!! It doesn't matter if they have been opened. I will send you another one with the same subject as before and then you will see how it works. A person could miss mail that way, if they didn't know about it How come MS has never discovered this? I did lose mail before I learned about it Hey candyman, I am sure glad you are human. not at all times ! This is how we all learn. Florence, I have sent you another mail Re:music Your mail will tell you that you have one unread message but you won't see it until you click on the + Thanks Pat. I will open my eyes on this one. OK will do. I haven't a CLUE what you are talking about There should be a green mark by the spool and a larger green dot to the right of the message. It is the same thing as in the newsgroup kc Kittycat that has been my line every time before. I don't get newsgroups yet I have 5 that I am reading now. I hope someone is logging this. I will need to read it again Flo =^;^= I am Flo I don't get newsgroups either. My server keeps trying to cut me off. Maybe I have gone over my hours. If you go to the very bottom of the Unofficial FAQ page and click on the link it will take you right to it. When I started this course, I had no idea of the depth of it. And I am LEARNING so many other things too. every day is a learning experience I had to shout that one word, because all these things are still unlearned. Wheeeeeeeeeeee I finally saw a spool--I opened my trash and finally found two a like!! what word? Flo if you go to that URL with Utah in it you will learn alot. It goes step by step. I just read back to candyman LOL I will do that as soon as I get out of here It is a class but you don't have to register or anything. Just go to the lessons. If you had a MAC, you would KNOW what we look like--we have a window called "Faces"--and can actually put up pictures Well if you had windows you could get netmeeting and use someone elses computer... If you put your pic on the net That would be why we will all someday have WebPages just to post our picture :-) Not me. Nor me. Well--THAT line of conversation sure died a quick death nor me, me thinks Sheeeeeeessssssssshhhhhhh nor me Sigh Guess I am weird Probably just better looking than the rest of us. I am prettier Some of us old bags just don't care I am sitting here really laughing out loud. But this old bag does care. you have your pic on your home page KC yup that is what I said-- guess I am weird Anyway, there is one thing that I would like to learn. That is when I reply to sender no not from where I sit kc How do I get rid of the little punctation things, when I answer some of the questions. Yes Flo? Once in a while it is easier to use the reply button. Can you highlight and delete? That is the only thing I have thought of, but I thought there might be an easier way. Do you always quote all of the original letter? Not usually. no Not sure what little punctuation thingys you are talking about Most times I start from scratch and write a new letter. When I click reply--there is blank page--with only my signature just enough so the the person who is rec'g knows what the email is about When I click reply (in outlook express) my wording goes in above the senders But the receiver gets both when he gets my email- his & mine Oh--I was talking about Netscape. I know nothing of Outlook Express This may be another of the differences You will have to ask eagel. She used outlook. I know one thing that I cannot do in Netscape email - Frequently I end up Have you looked to see if there is an option somewhere that allows you to NOT have the quote included? writing notes around midnight. But I like to hold them and send them in the a.m You can send later in Netscape. On explorer I can put them in the Out box & make changes if I want in the morning to the same letter & still send it. You go to File and then down to Send Later. I have looked through all the options Or you can send it to draft and finish it later. Yes I could do that, but then I might have to write a new letter rather than change a couple of words. I guess I could send id to draft, Pat. I had no thought of that.
