FRACTAL GENEALOGY DEFINED
Fractal geometry has been around for awhile
but the adjective "fractal" comes from French
and Latin meaning "broken, uneven". As an
adjective it describes that which is composed
of various (extremely irregular) shapes for which
any suitably chosen part is similar in shape
to a given larger or smaller part when
magnified or reduced to the same size. This
describes my Cape Cod family tree to a "T".

SOME OF THE FAMILIES
The fractal Cape Cod family relationships
in my line include such names as RING, SNOW,
CLARKE, HOPKINS, DEANE, ROGERS, TWINING, COLE,
DOANE, YOUNG, GORHAM, HOWLAND, BAXTER, WING,
HARDING, PHINNEY, PAINE, DOWNS...
In order to bring some "order" to these
forebears, I have restricted them to the
first two or three generations during
the first hundred years.
LIMITED LOCATIONS
Most of these families, if not all, were confined to very early first
generation Plymouth, Eastham, Yarmouth and Sandwich. Quakers went
afield, as they were wont to do, but the generations intermingled
for the first few decades and produced the fractal genealogy that is
so fascinating to unravel and then rebuild. It produces a most artistic
view of the process and, indeed, it is an art form!
