The Black Flag Page O' User Stuff

Michael Melo Says: I got a chance to go researching some of the new lines yesterday at my local K-Mart and Target stores, and so here's my own initial findings. First off, these new guns (Rip Chord, NitroQuad, Triple Torch, RangeShot, Expand-A-Blast, and Lock'n Load) will never replace any of the power standbys. A few however shoot the Rip Rockets really well, so if you're into the smaller ammunitions, you may find your Nirvana. All prices are approximately local to Burbank, CA or thereabouts. Rip Chord (about $15 ): overpriced piece of junk. Concept: pull a cord, fire up to five rockets in rapid succession. Poor firing mechanism -- who wants five quick shots if the shots are weak? And the cord firing mechanism while unusual is utterly useless -- it takes too long to reload, and proves totally unwieldy when fighting. NitroQuad (about $8): just when you thought it couldn't get worse. Concept: four rocket bay with control knob and you can select up to four rockets to fire. One is *supposed* to be able to select which of the four rockets to fire with the little dial on this gun -- yeah right. You might as well throw the rocket yourself. You'll get better range, guaranteed. Utter demonic time waste. Triple Torch (about $9): Promising. Concept: single shot that can fire three types of ammo (mini missile, rip rocket, type II). I bought two of these because they work pretty well. They fire rip rockets consistently about 30 feet with enough oomph to stick to a wall. The type IIs and mini-missiles don't fly as far, but you can certainly use them for your other weapons. The grip is a bit weird, and not very ergonomic. I took one of mine apart and stretched the spring a bit, and added another 6 feet to my rip rocket range. It's better than the Warthog :) and easily the best of this line. Range Shot (about $7): Lame. Concept: single shot that you can tilt the barrel up to 90 degrees. I can bend my arm up to 90 degrees as well. Don't buy this one for battle purposes. Poor range -- prolly best suited for office nerf wars, but even then, you're better off buying the next gun. Mono Blast (about $7): Decent. Concept: single shot with a "sight". The sight sucks, but this gun fires rip rockets almost as good as the Triple Torch. It has a lime-green color which makes it stand out quite a bit. It's a decent gun if you like rip rockets. Lock 'n Load (about $10): Lame as is, great if modified. Concept: gun that pops up a sight when cocked. Take off the sight and the extra hardware, stretch the spring. Add some weight (my friend loaded it up with glue in the handle) and you have a cool looking sidearm. Average to good range after modifications. Expand-A-Blast ($20): Ugh. Save your money and buy two triple torches. It's a big-sized gun with weak power.
