Would you like to play MIDI files? Do you have a Sound Blaster or other card that uses an FM chip? If the answer to both questions is yes, then you might want to know what it will sound like on your Sound Blaster. It sounds like you just bought the old 8 Bit Nintendo and found a way to make music with it. Yuck. This document will tell you how to make your MIDI files sound like you own a GUS (Gravis Ultrasound) sound card using Cubic Player.
First things first, you must get Cubic Player. Just unzip it into a fresh directory (presumably one called Cubic) that part is nice and over with. You now have a MOD player for dos. Now what? You have to get the GUS MIDI instrument library (Guspatches).

Unzip the files all in one directory. Once the long, act of unzipping is all over you should go back to the directory you unzipped Cubic Player into, and there should be a file there called CP.INI. If not pray to god or jump on your car and bark like a dog or something - in other words if the file isn't there your stuck. Edit it. There should be some line near the top like this:
If you have done everything in the previous paragraph and it worked out okay, play the two files I offered you above and I think you will notice a *HUGE* difference. The Halloween one sounds almost exactly like the real music in the movie! And the Indiana Jones one will sound soo good! Why should I be interested in these MIDI files when I can play MODs anyway you ask? Although MODs are rather popular and seem to be growing, you can usually find a lot more MIDI files with a lot more selection than the MODs. Also in my experience I seem to see more adaptations of existing songs in MIDI format than MOD.
