I consider myself extremely lucky to have known my grandmother Showalter.
I have only the fondest memories of this incredible women. I believe
that everyone would agree that "Bom" was loving, gentle, and had the
strength to endure raising a large family during hard times. My special
memories of my grandmother would have to be drinking tea with her. She
always made sure there was plenty of sugar and canned milk in my tea!
I can remember sitting at her kitchen table and talking with her while
we shared a pot of tea and some homemade bread. I was always a little
afraid to climb those dark steps up to her apartment but as soon as
Bom saw me she greeted me with warmth! I wish I would have spent more time visiting with her... maybe I would have learned more
from her.
