Madonna's extreme popularity in Germany over almost 2 decades now, can surley not be indicative in her chart performance. Madonna has only achieved one #1 hit, 1987's "La isla bonita" which was an international hit for Madonna, it is also her biggest hit in Germany spending 5 weeks at the top of the charts. Madonna has only achieved 14 Top 10 Hits out of 48 singles which have been released in Germany. Madonna continues to intrigue and fascinate the German public. This is evident in her Ray of Light album which has gone Double Platinum in less than a year of release, and is her 1st album to achieve over 1,000,000 units sold since the release of 1986's True Blue album which is still to date her biggest selling album of all times 20 million copies sold worldwide.
