All hell just about gone and broke loose and the whole shooting match seems to have gone to hell in a hand basket. The dead folks just don't seem to stay dead anymores and theres a whole passel load of trouble a roaming the west right now. Strange fellas acting like some wizards of old and more monsters than you can shoot in a barrel. Yup things aint just what they used to be.

If you have been living on Mere for the past couple of years you can be forgiven for not having heard of Deadlands the Weird West. Set firmly tongue in cheek and paying more than homage to the old black and white movies that pitted Cowboys and the Redskins. For a long time the wild west has held captive the imaginations of people the world over and has spawned hundreds of successful movies and television shows. Deadlands takes the wild west idea and turns it on its head dramatically.

Imagine what the world would be like if the war between the Confederates and the Union hadn’t come to a close in 1866? What would the America be like after a civil war that has lasted over 20 years with neither side able to get a foot hold on the other. Sounds interesting! Well if you take this scenario and throw in Mad Scientist, Supernatural creatures and dead folks coming back to life, mix it all up and throw in a super fuel that makes the atomic age look like child’s play, then your getting close to Deadlands.

The Deadlands game is one of the most inventive games of the past decade and is all set to turn the whole hobby upside down and won the best game design at Origins last year. A simplistic yet highly playable system that not only uses dice but relies on playing cards and poker chips to give it an extra edge.
